The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by Mayor Girodat
in the Pekin Community Center.
Members Present: Marvin Massey, Gary Beier, Dean
Ensrud, Duane Avdem, and Auditor Jane Hanson.
Guest: Brenda Bjorlie, Community Development Director
Mayor Girodat, Duane Avdem and Gary Beier were sworn in for
another four (4) year term of office.
Brenda was here to ask if it would be all right to put a sculpture
in the playground park. The children at the Stump Lake Fine Arts
Yourth Camp made the sculpture. It is movable and made to last
a couple of years. There was no objection from the council and
the sculpture may be placed in the park.
There was no city council meeting in July due to conflicting
conferences. The minutes of the June 2, 2010 meeting were
reviewed and a motion to approve was made by Ensrud,
seconded by Avdem and carried.
Motion to approve the financial report by Avdem, seconded
by Ensrud. All in favor and the motion carried.
Business: The Nelson County Sheriff's Office sent out a
list of calls for services for the month of July and it is posted
in the Pekin Community Center.
The North Dakota Insurance Department was out and inspected
the roof on the Community Center. The claim was filed in June.
The City's CCR (Consumer Confidence Report) was acceptable
and includes all information. The CCR report is done once a
year on all city water tests.
Bill Schafer, Area Director from the USDA was here to inspect
the well house and the Community Center. The only item notable
for the Center was to lower the telephone for handicap accessibility.
An inspector from the Dept of Health was here and inspected
the Pioneer Park. All RV water hook-ups should have had
backflow threaded connections, and all trash cans have to be
covered.
A motion was made by Beier and seconded by Avdem to pay
he North Dakota League of Cities dues.
August bills were presented for payment:
NDTC - $101.68
Otter Tail - $235.15
Nodak Electric - $44.00
City of McVille - $75.00
ND One Call - $2.60
ND Dept of Health - $16.00
Motion to pay bills by Beier, seconded by Avdem,
and the motion carried.
Next City Council Meeting will be September 1, 2010 at 7:00 PM
